Bio:
The seeds of Waiting for Sully were first planted in the fall 1998. Kevin and Kurt lived in Bullock Hall dormitory at Clark University. Kurt needed a guitarist for his reggae band, the Tile Renters, and soon recruited Kevin. With this addition, the Tile Renters gained an alternative influence and Kurt and Kevin began playing shows all across CT and NY. At the same time the two where playing ska and reggae every weekend, Kevin became exposed to bands like the get up kids and jimmy eat world and instantly made a connection. He found the genre easy to emulate and was soon only writing rock music.
In the Fall of 2001, Kevin completed an independent study of music where he and drummer Harris Daniels recorded a 3 song demo in the Clark U studios. Both realized the potential of the project, but couldn't pursue it because of time constraints.
The Tile Renters soon went their separate ways, but Kevin and Kurt did not stay idle for long. Kurt expressed interest in "rocking out" and was brought in to jam with Kevin and Harris. After a few lineup changes, Kurt replaced Harris on drums and Derek Graser was added to play guitar. All that was left was to find a bass player. Fortunately, musicians always surround themselves with other musicians and waiting for sully called on friend and former band mate Matt Anderson (former Tile Renters bassist, and the Reformed guitarist).
With all the pieces in place, Waiting for Sully finally got their feet wet in Oct 2002. The rest is soon to be history.... |
